Not only has this app not worked well since IOS 8, now I cant even load new puzzles since 6/15/2015. Anyone else have this issue? Is this app dead?

I have enjoyed this app for a few years, but since upgrading to iOS 8 it freezes up and since Jun 15th unable to load puzzles

I love this app! But once I updated to the iPhone 6 the app freezes every time I complete a days crossword. Does anyone know if an update is in the works?

I used to love this app. I had it on my old iPod touch, and even though my device was too old for the updates, it worked well. So weird that the current version for my iPhone is so buggy its essentially useless. It freezes constantly. Another case of the old versions being better than the updated ones. Until they work out the snafus, its a waste of space.

Freezes and crashes. Pity. While I hear it used to be a good app, that has not been my experience.

Every time I complete a puzzle or quick cross- it locks up and I have to delete the app, reload it and start completely over

Every time a puzzle is completed, the app freezes and needs to be restarted.

This game has great features; however, it freezes constantly. If I hit the backspace button to delete a misspelled word it freezes, if I ask for a hint it freezes, if I try to solve it freezes... Its too bad this app doesnt seem to have more consistent support that reads the problems users are facing so they can solve them. I feel bad for people who paid for this app if it is causing them the same problems with no support to fix things. In short, this app is buggy and crashes (like everyone else says...so yes it will be buggy for you too).

As with other reviews: I love this app. Ive had it for years and use it regularly. Its interface is my favorite of all crossword apps. Unfortunately, it is nonfunctional with iOS 8. I really hope it gets an update, because I would really hate to lose this app!

This was one of the first apps I put on my 3G. Consistent and works great! Never a serious problem on my 4. Update: Best crossword app out there... in 2010. Hasnt been updated since then and no longer works. At all. Ever. Too bad.

iOS 8 made the app unusable. I had hoped that the issue would have been resolved with iOS 9, but no such luck. Its disappointing because it used to be one of my favorite apps. Now I use Puzzazz.

Bought the app for $4.99 in 2011 and Ive gotten my moneys worth. Unfortunately it has become increasingly buggy with each major iOS update which is probably why its free now. Hope it gets fixed, Id pay again.

Freezes up, please fix!!!! No stars

Used to be a great app, now its an embarrassment to USATodays name and reputation. This hasnt been updated in a few years and now locks up whenever you complete a puzzle. Either update it or pull-it!

Ive had this app for 6 years, absolutely loved it, yadayada. All are saying the same thing--freezes when trying to use the hints or solve clues. What is being done on your (USA Todays) end to fix this? Money has been spent to enjoy this game, which used to be fun, but is now frustrating. Disappointed here.

I purchased this app a few years ago and played every day. It was my favorite app! However it no longer works properly on my phone. It needs an update desperately! The puzzles freeze, requiring a complete restart of the app. Its no longer fun. If only I could get my money back...

I went on Andrews McMeel Universal Publishing website and put a request for update in their consumer contact help form... Its been a year since the issues began... I got this app when you had to pay for it and would like service. Keeps freezing at the end of each puzzle! Have to power fully off to unfreeze! Please update this app, its my favorite!!

Keeps freezing, wont show score or that puzzle is complete. More frustration than its worth No updates

Old review: You can definitely tell that this app hasnt been updated in years. Interface is somewhat clunky, and its not optimized for ipad. Not as slick looking as crosswords in USA todays full app. But it works fine in iOS 7, and gives me access to way more puzzles than the full USA today app or website. And it was free. So Im happy. Hopefully it will continue to work. New review: Now that Ive updated to iOS9, it doesnt work right for me either. Ive discovered that what makes it freeze is when a window tries to pop up. Completing a puzzle, checking for errors, deleting from the info screen...all of those events make it freeze. So I work around it: to check for errors, I go into settings and turn on the show errors setting (then turn it back off after I look). To delete puzzles, I go back to the list of puzzles and edit it (one at a time). And when I finish a puzzle and it freezes, I close the app by double tapping the home button, and then re-open it. Yes, its a pain, and obviously not how the app is supposed to work. But its working for me. This doesnt solve the issue of recent puzzles, but I havent done most of the old puzzles so Im just working my way backwards through all of the old ones. It will download puzzles from the previous week and earlier. (If you want to do recent puzzles, use the regular USA Today app.) Im not sure if this review will be helpful to anyone or not, or if anyone is crazy enough to work around all of this nonsense like I have. But I am enjoying the puzzles. Obviously I would prefer that they just fix the darn thing, but its pretty apparent that that wont happen.
